We have received sixteen Moratorium Resolutions since starting our campaign, and we really haven't made much of a push at all. We plan to kick it into higher gear soon and hope that all you folks who have connections with businesses, organizations, etc., will start the ball rolling in your neck of the woods. Or, even if you don't have connections, think outside the box, stretch yourselves a little, and approach people with the idea of Moratorium. The fact that our state government has executed 4 men since March and is preparing to execute another man next month should be grabbing people's attention, so they may be looking for a way to effect change on this issue. Be sure to send copies of your signed resolution to your legislators, the governor, the president, and congress, then mail the original to BCADP...the address is at the bottom of the resolution. We will send a copy on to Equal Justice USA. If you are not sure who your legislators are, or if you need addresses, please check the IICACP website for information. The Moratorium Now! coordinator, Sarah Craft, provided a list of those who have signed Moratorium Resolutions in the past, and BCADP will be updating that list on a regular basis as more resolutions are signed. Take a look at the tally on the IICACP website. I am the contact person for BCADP, so feel free to e-mail or call if you have questions, suggestions, or reports of discussions, successful or not, about Moratoriumwe need to learn and grow as we proceed with this campaign. Peace, Glenda Breeden, Secretary BCADP |
